'Whole Body HealthWhole Body Commitment, and Breath' - Joseph Pilates

PilatesMed was founded by Pei Liao, otherwise known as “KeKe” with the aim of helping individuals like herself - those who have faced physical challenges and injuries - to rediscover strength, increase flexibility and mobility, and improve vitality through mindful movement. She gained her qualification from the world-renowned Polestar Pilates Comprehensive Certification. Her preferred style of teaching is using a range of Pilates equipment with tactile and imaginary cues to maximise the feedback in motor learning and develop proprioception effectively.

Born in mainland China and raised in Hong Kong, before moving to the UK, KeKe was an aviation professional and a senior executive who oversaw revenue management in a Hong Kong-based airline. Her career change came following a skiing accident in Japan which resulted in osteoarthritis, reducing hip mobility and daily pain. She was advised by several orthopedists to have a total hip replacement however, rehabilitation through Pilates helped her avoid surgery and imbued her with a growing curiosity about both the anatomy and the kinesiology of the musculoskeletal system.

PilatesMed advances the benefits of Pilates and other scientific movement approaches to the public. It caters to both post injury patients and those looking to use Pilates as a protective and preventative habit - for postural restoration, tackling lower back pain, cervical pain and those with limited joint mobility etc.

KeKe can conduct classes in Mandarin and Cantonese as well as English. She is excited for clients to join her on this journey of transformation, exploring the synergies between movement and optimal health. She is a believer in science and research-based movement approaches, her further study from The Center for Women’s Fitness™ , Postural Restoration Institute® and Anatomy Trains in Motion® by this year will cover more specific groups soon.

When she’s not teaching or furthering her study, she can be found cooking or looking after her bees! KeKe also has a passion for travel and has trekked in the Himalayas, enjoyed mountain biking in the Alps and cross-country road biking. She loves travelling to those hidden places around the world to fulfil the curiosity for exploration.
